Hi! I’m Sharlene. I’m a mobile massage therapist based in Melbourne, Australia. I love meeting new people and being able to share the healing and nurturing power of massage. I have a Certificate IV in Relaxation Massage and am a member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists. Relaxation massage can help relieve general muscular tension, reduce pain, improve circulation, stimulate the lymphatic system, reduce stress, improve skin tone and improve mental and emotional wellbeing.
I think of my style of massage as flowy and relaxing but also firm and targeted. While I do not treat specific injuries or provide specific deep tissue massage, I can still provide a firm pressure and focus on any areas of tension that you have. Clients commonly describe my massage style as a nice medium ground between spa-style relaxation massage that is too light or “wishy-washy” and painful remedial massage. I choose to focus on relaxation massage because I believe the body needs to be treated as a whole to fully heal and let go of any physical, mental or emotional tension.
I can come to your house to provide a beautiful massage in the comfort of your own surroundings. I am based in the Melbourne CBD but will travel to most Melbourne suburbs within about 30km of the CBD. I will bring everything needed- massage table, towels, oil etc. All you need to do is decide on the space which I can set up my table in, ideally with enough room for me to comfortably move around and near a power outlet.
My rates are $90 for a 90-minute full body massage, or $70 for a 60-minute massage targeting specific areas of the body. It is possible for me to do a full body massage in 60 minutes if you just want a very general relaxing massage; however, I do not recommend it as it doesn’t provide enough time to focus on particular areas of tension and can also feel a little rushed for both of us. I am always happy to work with whatever your needs are however. I can also provide a massage one after another if you would like to make a booking for more than one person at the same location. My usual availability is Thursday, Friday and Saturday (full day/evening) and Tuesday during the day, although this can vary from week to week (view my online booking page for availability or contact me for more information).
I take hygiene and infection control standards very seriously. Freshly cleaned towels are always used for each client, the table and oil bottle are always wiped down and disinfected between clients, and I will always wash my hands with soap before and after a massage session. In accordance with current government guidelines, a face mask must always been worn by both the massage therapist and client for the duration of the session.
I first got into massage in 2008 as a corporate massage therapist and fell in love with it. I loved going around to different workplaces, events, conferences, trade shows and parties etc! Unfortunately current COVID-19 restrictions are making things very difficult for the corporate massage sector at the moment, but I hope to one day be able to massage in offices again. If you have a small personal event at home; however such as a birthday party, baby shower or bridal shower etc, I can provide short-format seated neck and shoulder massages (5-20 minutes per person) and/or hand massages for $60 per hour. These short massages make for a delightful treat for guests at celebrations and events.
Some other basic information about me: I am a mum of two. I love animals. I grew up in Borneo, Malaysia. I am a bit of a nerd and love learning about Greek mythology, astronomy, cosmology, physics, history, philosophy, and spirituality etc. I used to dance ballet and ballroom as a kid and hip-hop as a young adult. I followed the Asian stereotype and studied law in University before realising I didn’t have to follow convention and broke out of the mould and went into what I am truly passionate about which is massage. I love it with all my heart and believe that the power of touch is so important and essential in life. I think it’s a privilege to be able to come into your home and provide you with this wonderful nurturing experience. Thank you for your trust.
